Legends Brass specializes in trumpet mouthpieces, including custom mouthpieces made to the buyer’s specifications.

The challenge

Legends Brass hired Pioneer Media to improve its popular eCommerce website. They came to us for search engine optimization, but WordPress core, plugins and themes were outdated, the database was bogged down and the site was very slow.

What we built

• Backend and frontend tuning. After adjusting the site’s backend caching and front-end assets, we shrank the homepage from 8.5 MB to 2.0 MB, which is 76% smaller.
• Faster pages. That cut page load time by 68%, and the site now loads in about 2–3 seconds. Page load time is one of many search engine ranking factors.
• Updated software across WordPress core, plugins and themes, plus a cleaner database.
• Ongoing maintenance including analytics tracking, SEO, customer support, backups, security updates and patches (Website Care Service).
