What’s the threat?

Websites get hacked every day, and some are much easier targets than others. Once a hacker gets in, they can steal data, deface pages, send spam or plant malware that infects your visitors. While advanced attacks can take down even the largest sites, most hacks are simple and automated, and they can be prevented with the right coding and tools.

What does Pioneer Media do?

We build custom websites using secure coding practices to keep out hackers and malicious traffic. On WordPress websites, we tighten security with layers like these:

  • Prompt updates to WordPress, themes and plugins, since outdated software is the #1 way in
  • SSL/HTTPS on every site (read does your website need an SSL certificate?)
  • Strong passwords and two-factor authentication for admin logins
  • A firewall that blocks known bad bots, hackers and fake users
  • Brute-force protection, locking out visitors who repeatedly guess passwords or probe for files that don’t exist
  • Hardened settings, such as hiding the WordPress admin, removing file-editing permissions, disabling PHP in upload folders and turning off directory browsing
  • Regular vulnerability scans (read is your website scanned for security vulnerabilities?)

Is my site secure?

Yes! We use many tactics to keep your site secure. There are no guarantees with online security, but rest assured we do our best to keep your site safe. And in case of disaster, we keep regular off-site backups of your website and database so it can be restored quickly.
